GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Develop, support and monitor DSS funded domestic violence programs (60 agencies, 90 programs).
Supervise program coordinators, work with DSS area office staff, and collaborate with other state agencies to ensure that DSS funded domestic violence programs are responsive to the needs of individuals and families.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Identify unmet needs and expand/develop DSS funded domestic violence services; develop programs, design data and evaluation of services, design and implement program improvement plans, respond to complaints, supervise staff weekly, draft program specifications and work with Dept of Admin and Finance to execute procurements, amendments, spending plans, participate in yearly budgets for state and federal accounts, participate on interagency committees, with state funders, organize and conduct DSS area office visits, program site visits, community focus groups, regional representatives, etc. Support the work of the Assistant Commissioner for Planning and Program Development.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, or public administration. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: None.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) A Bachelor’s or higher degree in a Human Services field;
Significant experience in program development, supervision, conflict resolution;
2) Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, it’s effects on family functioning; empowerment, advocacy, assessment, and crisis intervention skills;
3) Knowledge of child welfare and child development practice;
4) Knowledge of the principles and practices of program development, case consultation, effects and consequences of domestic violence, trauma and poverty and its implications for case practices;
5) Knowledge and experience with data collection, evaluation and quality assurance that is strengths based;
6) Skills in budgeting and fiscal management;
7) Skills in respectfully engaging and working with diverse populations;
8) Skills in problem solving, consensus building and fostering mutual accountability;
9) Skill in identifying learning needs;
10) Skill in interagency collaboration and networking
